The Fear
"If I raise my rates by $5, they'll all quit!"
Reality: They likely won't. And if you lose 10% of your students but raise rates by 20%, you are making MORE money for LESS work. That is the definition of a good business move.
The "Why" Matters
Don't just say "I want more money." Frame it around value. "To continue providing the high-quality materials, app subscriptions, and studio environment you expect..."
The "How" Matters More
If you send a crumpled note home with a kid, it looks amateur. If you send a professional email from your Studio Portal, it looks official.
The Script
"Dear Families, Effective Sept 1st, tuition will be adjusting to $X/month. This change allows me to upgrade our studio software (we're moving to HarmonyHub!), purchase new library materials, and continue my own professional development. Thank you for valuing quality music education."
